The Hero Quest Mummy is a fairly simple mini to paint. With just a prime and 3 colors, they were tabletop ready.

Colors

For the colors on the mummy I used the following:

  • Prime – Wraith Bone
  • Skin – Citadel Contrast Gryph Charger Grey
  • Wraps – Skeleton Horde
  • Bone – Wraith Bone
  • Mini Base – Vallejo Model Black
  • Protective – Testos Dull Cote

Application

Again, a simple paint job to start with for beginners. The texture on the wraps make painting this mini very forgiving.

  1. Start with the wraps. Paint all the wraps in skeleton horde. You should be somewhat liberal with the paint here just be careful not to get on the skin.
  2. Paint the skin with gryph charger grey. You have the face, hands, and feet to do here.
  3. Paint the bone on the knee wraith bone (optional wash with agrax earth shade).
  4. Base with vallejo black paint. This paint goes on best when watering it down and a little goes a long way! I find the best way to apply is to put a drop of paint on the paint pallet and just dip the tip of the brush lightly in water then pull a bit of paint from the pallet. That should give you enough to cover the base and if you need more just dip in water and pull paint from pallet again until base is complete.
  5. Once dry spray with dull cote for protection.

No wash needed for the wraps but if you wanted to, you could probably use some agrax earth shade. All in all, it took about 30 minutes after the primer was dry to paint all the mummies.
