A Bit About Our Board Game Ratings
Our board game ratings are based on 3 very simple criteria. Yes, during reviews we will talk about mechanics, artwork/theme, playtime, etc.
But in the end, it is the below criteria that makes a great game for us:
- How much fun did we have playing the game? Entertainment is the reason we play games!
- Would we keep this game in our collection? We all have a limited amount of shelf space. It should be reserved for the games we play and enjoy the most.
- Would we recommend this game to a friend? Friends trust friends. If we are not willing to recommend a game to a friend, it subconsciously speaks to how we feel about the game.
Of course, these are our opinions and everyone has different tastes. Currently our tastes are weighted towards light to medium complexity games. Our gaming partners are our grade school children so we can’t wade in too deep into the water just yet. We do like heavy games as well . . . when we have the time to play them.
5 star board game ratings, these are the cream of the crop and will never leave my collection.
4 star board game ratings, these are great games that hit the table regularly.
3 star board game ratings, these are good games that will be played occasionally.
2 star board games, these are so-so games that will be played a couple of times.
