Potion Explosion Overview

In Potion Explosion, the goal is to earn the most points by making lots of potions. To do this, players take turns picking special marbles from a tray full of potions. When marbles of the same color bump into each other, it causes an explosion! Players can collect these marbles for their potion-making. Once all the needed marbles for a potion are collected, that potion is finished and kept for scoring later. When all the skill tokens are taken, it’s time for final scoring. Add up the points from the tokens and completed potions. The wizard with the most points wins!

Potion Explosion Setup

Setting up Potion Explosion is super easy! First, take out the potion tray from the box. Next, grab the potion marbles from the back compartment and pour them into the potion dispenser. Then, put aside two sets of potions you won’t use and place them back in the box. After that, each player gets a potion desk and two starter potions. The rest of the potions are shuffled and placed in five equal stacks on the table. Finally, put the little help and skill tokens in piles on the table where everyone can reach them. That’s all there is to it! Setting up the game only takes about 5 minutes. Easy peasy!

Potion Explosion Rules

When it’s your turn in Potion Explosion, you pick one marble from the tray. When you do, other marbles slide down to fill the gaps. If two marbles of the same color touch because of this, it makes an explosion, and you collect those marbles too. Once everything stops moving, you put the collected marbles onto your potion cards. Extras can go in a flask for later. Fill all the spots on a potion card, flip it over, and keep it under your board. These potions give you special powers when you drink them by flipping them over. Some let you take more marbles or even steal from other players. Making three or five of the same potion gets you a bonus token for extra points later.

If you’re stuck making a potion, you can use a help token to grab an extra marble. But remember, these take away points at the end!

The game ends when the last skill token is taken. Everyone gets one more turn. Then, add up points from completed potions and skill tokens. The player with the most points wins!
